Amad Diallo, who has spent the last five months on loan at Rangers, has confirmed his departure from the Scottish club with a heartfelt message on Twitter.

The young Ivorian’s short stint in Scotland did not go according to plan but he started to find his feet toward the end of the six-month arrangement, scoring three goals in total.

After just ten appearances and four goals in the Scottish Premiership, it was made clear early on that his loan would not be extended and he would instead be returning to Manchester United.

Amad has now taken to Twitter to say his goodbyes in a heartfelt message coupled with a video of his best highlights in the blue shirt.

“Thanks guys,” the 19-year-old wrote on Twitter. “It was a pleasure to be part of your beautiful trip. Wish you all the best.”

Amad was part of the squad that lost in the Europa League final to Frankfurt earlier this month, less than 12 months after watching United suffer the same fate against Villarreal.

SN’s verdict… United made a sizeable investment when they signed Amad – a novice with very little experience and he will be desperate to impress Erik ten Hag in his first full pre-season with the club.

There are question marks over several first-team figures in his position and Amad could seize this opportunity to seal his place in the Dutchman’s set-up.

Furthermore, there have been suggestions that Marcus Rashford could be trialed in a new role under Ten Hag, leaving yet another spot for a youngster to fill in the wide positions.
