In the last 24 hours, the rumours that Orbelín Pineda could return to Chivas have blown up after manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich stated that he would be welcomed with open arms.
Pineda, who is one of Mexico’s finest talents, left Chivas for Cruz Azul in 2019 for $13m but could now leave for free at the end of the year as his contract is set to come to an end.
In addition, current sporting director Ricardo Peláez was one of the biggest factors in bringing Pineda to La Maquina, so the pair have a good relationship.
“He is a great player,” Vucetich said.
“When he left (Querétaro), I was opposed to him leaving. He was young and when you consider the sporting side of the equation, his departure really affected us.
“There was the possibility of making him grow even more, make both our sporting performance and economic growth go into the right direction, which is what they did here in Guadalajara.
“For me, he would be a fantastic addition but I know that it is very difficult to bring in a player of that quality.
“But, it has to be said, he has a suitable profile for the football of this team, without a doubt.”
