When you’re having a season as good as Victor Adeboyejo is having in League One, it is going to attract attention.

Indeed, despite Burton Albion’s struggles, with the club sitting 23rd in the third tier standings, their number 14 has been on fire.

In 26 league outings, Adeboyejo has 11 goals and two assists to his name, with a further two goals also having come his way in the EFL Trophy, too.

With the January transfer window upon us, that sort of form has caught the eye.

What do we know so far?

Two clubs have recently joined the chase for the 25-year-old this month, according to Football Insider.

Those clubs are Championship outfit Millwall and League One play-off hopefuls Bolton Wanderers.

It is said that both sides are now readying bids for Adeboyejo, with another Championship side, Wigan Athletic, said to have been locked in talks with Burton Albion over a deal this month, too.

What position did Bolton earn for Christmas day this year?

Earlier this month, it was reported that Wigan were prepared to match the buy out clause in Adeboyejo’s contract, but so far, that has not been the case.

Is a move likely to happen?

Assessing whether or not a move to Bolton could happen is quite a tricky one.

Were it just Wanderers in for the forward, you would give them a great chance of getting the deal done.

They are a bigger club than Burton and given their league standing, have greater ambitions than the Brewers this campaign.

However, with Championship sides such as Millwall and Wigan in for Adeboyejo, too, you’d have to make Bolton third favourites for his signature.

That is presuming that the player would want to play at the highest possible level, of course, which I don’t think is too far-fetched.

Indeed, perhaps Bolton’s best chance is if the player feels he would get more playing time with the League One outfit as opposed to the minutes he would see were he to make one of the Championship moves.
