Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart can buy out the release clause that was included in his contract extension earlier this season.

The release clause that is valued at around €40m is valid from 2026. At any time, Stuttgart can buy out the clause for a fee of €2m. Stiller cannot reject this idea and will receive the money straight away.

The buy out fee does not extend his contract, so his contract will still be valid until 2028.

What this means is that if a club, say Bayern Munich, want to try and sign Stiller, then they will now have to negotiate a price for the midfielder, and due to how important Stiller is to Stuttgart, the fee will not be cheap.

The buy-out option is a turnaround to how Stuttgart have operated in recent years, as most of the time they have had to give players release clauses to stay, as seen with Serhou Guirassy, Waldemar Anton, Hiroki Ito, and now they can avoid this situation.

However, this is not the case for Enzo Millot. The Frenchman’s contract is valid until 2028 and he does have a release clause worth €18-20m which can rise to €22m depending on the buying club, reports Sky Germany. It is likely that Millot leaves the MHP Arena in the summer. Stuttgart are already exploring options to replace Millot with Augsburg Alexis Claude-Maurice, Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza and Elversberg’s Muhammed Damar, previously linked.

On top of this, if Stuttgart qualifies for Europe, an additional defensive midfielder will be signed.
