It may not be all doom and gloom for Chicago Fire fans tonight.
Despite sitting bottom of the Eastern Conference and down 4-1 away at Charlotte FC, veteran defensive midfielder Kellyn Acosta popped up with an absolute banger to cut the deficit to two goals at Bank of America.
The visitors struggled to break down Charlotte’s defence and instead opted to attack from range, as Acosta found the top right corner.
It was just the third goal of the season for Acosta across 33 appearances for the Fire this season after arriving as a free agent in February.
Acosta has now equaled his best goal tally in any given MLS season when he scored three league goals for FC Dallas during both the 2015 and 2017 seasons.
