Pundit Tim Sherwood believes that Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son could play for Liverpool.

Sherwood said that Son is a “very underrated player”. Sherwood is unsure why Son has not been linked to “many teams” in world football.

Sherwood believes that Son could succeed at Liverpool if the South Korean ever made the move to Anfield.

“Son, I think is a very underrated player,” Sherwood told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (12/09/20 at 1:50 pm).

“I know we all like him. For the life of me, I don’t know why he’s not linked to many teams.

“When you talk about Harry Kane getting linked, left, right and centre. I think Son could play for Liverpool. He can play for top teams in the Premier League and all over the world.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Son is a very good player. Since signing for Spurs back in 2015, he has scored 85 goals and registered 47 assists in 230 appearances.

The aforementioned numbers highlight that Son has been quite successful playing for an English team. With that being the case, we completely agree with Sherwood that Son could succeed at Liverpool.

However, the reality is, Son’s current market value is €64 million. His contract also expires in the summer of 2023.

Liverpool have reportedly felt the financial pinch of the pandemic, which means that it would be fair to assume that the club would not be able to afford Son at this current moment.

Liverpool have also never been genuinely linked to Son in recent times. That does suggest that they are not interested in him.

This is a transfer we can’t see happening for the time being. But, as we have stated, we agree with Sherwood.
