Alan Shearer has backed Chelsea to be in the mix for the Premier League title because of their achievements last season.
Chelsea had a successful first season under Enzo Maresca which saw them qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League.
The Blues then jetted off to America for the Club World Cup and won the tournament with a fantastic performance against Paris Saint Germain in the final.
Chelsea’s performance has rightly been praised, and people are starting to take notice of Enzo Maresca’s men as a serious threat next season.
The Blues have already strengthened their squad with the signings of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens, with more new faces expected to follow.
It’s been reported the only expectation for Chelsea next season is to qualify for the Champions League through the league, and go as far as possible in every cup competition.

Maresca will be under pressure to improve on last season, but Shearer has been impressed by what he’s seen, and believes the Blues will be in the mix for the title.
“I think it would take a very, very brave person to say that Chelsea would not be involved in the title hunt next year because of what they’ve achieved this season, what they’ve just achieved, who they’ve signed, who they will sign,” he told The Rest Is Football.
“It was a masterclass from Maresca because PSG went in, their football has worked all season… Why should they change anything?

“But [Chelsea were] pressing high and all those things and I just think it worked perfectly for them and he deserves huge credit, not only for the job he’s done in this competition, but for the whole season.
“He’s done a magnificent job.”
Whilst Chelsea will be aiming to close the gap on the teams above, it’s thought Maresca isn’t under immediate pressure to win the league title.
John Terry doesn’t think Chelsea are ready to win the league yet, and the Blues haven’t challenged since they last won it in 2017 under Antonio Conte.
The Blues still have a gap to close on the Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, but it’ll be interesting to see how close they get next season.
