Things are moving vey quickly in Christopher Nkunku’s potential move to Bayern Munich.

We only heard the first rumours last night, but it’s already developed to a level where Ben Jacobs is reporting for TalkSport that a move has been “verbally agreed” by the player.

The German giants are keen, and it’s hard for Chelsea to say no to such a juicy sale given how little Nkunku has played for Enzo Maresca this season. Jacobs’ report says Chelsea value him at more than £60m, but after just 3 Premier League starts all season, that price will only come down if they wait.

“'[Bayern] are serious and have a verbal agreement with the player,” Jacobs said on his show.

Tel deal a secondary element that could still play a part in Nkunku deal

An interesting sub-deal to this is Chelsea’s interest in Bayern’s Mathys Tel. This predates the Nkunku deal – in fact we wrote about it back in the summer.

The two deals wouldn’t be directly related as a “swap,” but if Bayern are willing to sell Tel the two clubs could certainly harmonise the arrangements of both deals to suit both of their financial needs.

“The approach [for Nkunku] to Chelsea hasn’t yet reached a bid or any kind of negotiations and Chelsea, upon having that conversation, have said ‘what about Tel’,” Jacobs said in his report.

“Chelsea are being opportunistic here. They’re in the market for someone who is versatile and young and looked at the player over the summer.”

Chelsea have enough attacking options that replacing Nkunku in January wouldn’t be essential, but they’d certainly be more comfortable with someone coming in to replace him.
