Manchester United are poised to miss out on Viktor Gyokeres once and for all amid reports he’s closing in on a move to Arsenal.
For several weeks now, the Red Devils have been monitoring Arsenal’s pursuit of the Sweden international in hopes a deal fails to materialise.
The Gunners had been prioritising the arrival of highly-rated prospect Benjamin Sekso, but are now seemingly open to signing both players in a bid to bolster Mikel Arteta’s lacklustre forward options.

On Tuesday, L’Equipe revealed (as relayed by Get Football News France) that a ‘verbal agreement’ was now ‘close’ between Gyokeres and Arsenal, with Sporting Director Andrea Berta spearheading the London club’s interest.
Gyokeres reportedly informed United earlier in the window of his desire to join Arteta’s ranks over a reunion with his former boss, Ruben Amorim, at Old Trafford. It comes as a second snub for INEOS to navigate this summer following Liam Delap’s decision to join Chelsea last month.
As a result, United have been in the market for alternatives, and have recently landed on Aston Villa talisman and 18-capped England international Ollie Watkins as a viable option to bring to M16.
The 29-year-old boasts a hugely impressive 75 goals and 36 assists in 184 Premier League appearances, while he has notched 15 or more goals in his last three seasons, making him a relatively risk-free coup for Amorim to add to his struggling attacking contingent.
INEOS chiefs remain locked in talks with Brentford to try and hash out an agreement for Bryan Mbeumo, who is set to join Matheus Cunha as the club’s only summer signings thus far.
