Venezia Sporting Director Confirms – “Will Sign” Inter Milan Serbian Loanee This Summer | OneFootball

Venezia sporting director Filippo Antonelli confirmed the club will purchase Inter Milan loanee Filip Stankovic this summer.

During an interview at the Gran Galà del Calcio via FCInterNews, Antonelli reiterated Venezia’s ambition to keep the young gun.

Filip Stankovic joined Venezia on a season-long loan last summer after failing to secure regular first-team football at Inter.

Moreover, Venezia secured a favorable €2 million buyout clause.

Though the 23-year-old goalkeeper wasn’t Eusebio Di Francesco’s first choice at first, he made his way up the hierarchy.

Indeed, Stankovic’s remarkable performance in the first half of the season made him one of Serie A’s best stoppers.

Unfortunately, a long-term injury hindered his progress at the start of the new calendar year.

However, the Serbian starlet has recently returned to training and could regain his place between the sticks in the season finale.

Meanwhile, Antonelli confirmed Venezia’s stance on Stankovic in his latest interview.

“We strongly wanted him,” Antontelli said. “We have the option to redeem him, and we will definitely do so.

“He’s a player who has worked very well in the first months. I have great relationships with Inter, which allowed us to make this move.

“He must continue working like this, and I’m sure he will give us many more satisfactions.

“Did they contact us to try to take him? Actually, we’ll exercise the option in June, and then we’ll evaluate the situation further.”

In addition to Stankovic, Venezia signed Andrei Radu from Inter midway through the campaign.

Indeed, the 27-year-old has filled the void during Stankovic’s absence.

“Radu was an opportunity for us, and we’ve always said that,” Antonelli added. “We thank Inter, who, when we called them, were immediately available.

“But we also thank the player, because he seized this opportunity and has shown his value.

“The journey is not over – there are three games left, and he can finish on a high note.”
