Venezia sporting director Filippo Antonelli confirms the Ligurian outfit will activate a buyout clause to sign Inter Milan loanee Filip Stankovic.
During his recent interview, Antonelli reiterated Venezia’s ambition to purchase the talented goalkeeper via FCInter1908.
Despite the club’s original plan to use him as a backup option for Jesse Joronen, Stankovic dislodged the Finnish stopper from the starting XI.
However, a long-term tendon injury curtailed the 23-year-old’s momentum midway through the season.
Therefore, Venezia had to bring Andrei Radu from Inter in January to fill the void.
Although Stankovic recovered toward the end of the season, the Romanian remained Eusebio Di Francesco’s first choice.
Nonetheless, the Winged Lions failed to keep hold of their top-flight status.
As a result, they will return to Serie B next term, but it won’t deter them from handing Stankovic a permanent deal.

Venezia’s survival would’ve triggered an obligation clause. However, it became optional when they suffered relegation.
The figure remains unchanged, as they must dish out €1.5 million to sign Stankovic permanently.
Meanwhile, Inter will retain a percentage on a future sale.
“I need to speak with the ownership regarding the key players in the squad,” Antonelli revealed.
“Stankovic was an obligation if we stayed in Serie A, a right if we were relegated.
“We will redeem him for €1.5 million, with a percentage remaining in Inter’s favor for the future.
“We have the option to do so by June 18.”
Then, he discussed Radu’s future at Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.
“Radu had a significant contract with Inter, and we paid part of it.”
Asked whether Venezia will keep Radu along with Stankovic, he replied: “We have Stankovic, Plizzari, and Neri – I think we’re covered in goal.”
