Venezia Midfielder Gianluca Busio: “Inter’s Nicolo Barella Toughest Opponent I’ve Faced In Serie A” | OneFootball

Venezia midfielder Gianluca Busio feels that Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella is the top player he has come up against during his time in Serie A.

Speaking to Venice-based newspaper Corriere del Veneto in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 19-year-old hailed Barella as his most difficult opposite number.

Busio has made a positive impression in Serie A since joining Venezia in the summer, but against the Nerazzurri last weekend there was little he could do to keep his team afloat in the midfield battle despite showing his talent at times.

A lot of this owed to the efforts of Barella, who worked hard to make sure that Busio did not have the time and space to really create anything significant for the Venetians.

The young US international recognized this, naming Barella as the player who most impressed him as an opponent in his first few months in the Italian top flight.

“If I really have to choose one name then I’d say Nicolo Barella,” he said when asked about his best opponent in Serie A. “It really impressed me to play against him and see how much ground he was able to cover on the pitch.”
