When Chelsea meet Tottenham, the game rarely passes by without incident. Some kind of controversy or drama usually prevails.
And that has been the case in their fixture at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
VAR had to have a look at an incident in the 20th minute after Spurs defender Matt Doherty appeared to trod on the heel of Chelsea’s Malang Sarr.
The check was relatively lengthy as numerous angles were shown of the challenge, and with each passing one it seemed that the Irishman’s fate wasn’t going to be a happy one.
In the end no card was given … but was it the right decision?
But if Tottenham got lucky with that one, they can consider themselves very unlucky to have seen Harry Kane’s goal disallowed for an apparent foul on Thiago Silva just before half-time.
There’s never a dull moment when it comes to VAR.
