Liverpool Football Club will not be sending VAR a Christmas card, if such a thing was even logistically possible.

After the controversy of last weekend’s Merseyside Derby, the technology has inflicted another decision against the Premier League champions in the opening stages of the game against Sheffield United.

Referee Mike Dean had originally deemed Fabinho’s foul on Oli McBurnie to be outside the box but after another look, the VAR, being led by Andre Marriner judged the incident to be inside the area.

A penalty was awarded and Sander Berge converted to put the Blades 1-0 up at Anfield.

The decision has not gone down well amongst Liverpool supporters …

It’s been a strange start to the season for Jürgen Klopp’s side …

We’ve not heard the last of this.
