The Champions Cup round-of-16 continued Wednesday evening with three more fixtures around North America.
Here is what went down.
Scorers: Rodríguez 6', Valdés 45', Zendejas 65', Fidalgo 79'
América came flying out of the traps with a fervent home crowd behind, bagging two goals in the first half to jump ahead on aggregate.
An early Brian Rodríguez strike followed up by a dagger from Diego Valdés in the dying minutes of the opening interval had Chivas heads spinning.
It went from bad to worse for Chivas after the break when Alan Mozo was sent off just minutes into the second-half, adding some major depth to the hole they found themselves in.
The final nail fell when USMNT winger Alejandro Zendejas bagged América's third to put the tie to bed and secure Mexican bragging rights for André Jardine's side.
But just when you thought the collapse couldn't continue, Álvaro Fidalgo dribbled through the Chivas rearguard before slotting home the fourth.
Scorers: Aude 30', Berry 38', Pec 55', Ramirez 76' ; González 82'
After a shock in the first-leg, the LA Galaxy came roaring back against Costa Rican side Herediano in the second to book their ticket to the quarter-finals.
It was one-way traffic from the opening whistle, and the Galaxy showed a ruthlessness they have perhaps been lacking throughout the opening weeks of the season when Julián Aude and Miguel Berry scored eight minutes apart from each-other to start the turnaround.
It was much of the same for the Galaxy after the break, and star winger Gabriel Pec well and truly put the tie to bed with the hosts' third on the night before the hour mark.
Winter signing Christian Ramirez joined the party with his first goal in a Galaxy kit, driving the final nail into the Herediano coffin.
Scorers: Canales 4', Ramos 90+5' ; Ocampo 56', White 78'
Vancouver Whitecaps pulled off a famous victory on away goals in Mexico to stun Monterrey and book their ticket to the last-eight.
The hosts, albeit on unfamiliar ground, took the advantage in a flash thanks to a lovely touch and finish from Sergio Canales before the clock struck five minutes.
The unthinkable happened after the break however, as Vancouver showed off a rip-roaring counter that was capped off by Édier Ocampo to put the cat amongst the pigeons and level things on aggregate.
When it looked like Monterrey would enforce their supremacy once more, they were stunned once more in the final 15 minutes when USMNT striker Brian White came off the bench to put the 'Caps ahead and silence the Rayados faithful.
While the hosts pulled level in stoppage-time on the night through a Sergio Ramos penalty, it was merely consolation as Vancouver had the advantage on away goals.
