You'd have to say that Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is suffering at King Power Stadium along with the Blue Army fan base. Obviously he's not going to be as troubled or invested as those of us who have been Foxes for years. But the negative results and third-rate performances seem to have gotten to the Dutchman as well.
The LCFC boss does actually care, in my opinion. He's just not capable of changing the scenario for two reasons: Premier League managerial inexperience and a woefully inferior squad of players. Basically the situation is serious and compromised at this stage. If you listen to Gary Lineker, then this season is already a write off apparently. He's probably correct.
Yet I was pleasantly surprised and almost impressed with City at the weekend. I never thought I'd utter those words in defeat while analysing football. That's because the east Midlands team managed show some good play and partial solidity versus Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. And the Foxes did so with only one week of preparation using a new formation and matchday approach.
With a new system and a better collective effort from his men, can van Nistelrooy finally create momentum? What did LCFC supporters say of the changes and the gaffer? And can the twice Manchester United man potentially win over some of the Leicester faithful?
Obviously you get so-called fans who just abuse and insult LCFC's head coach, and others on social media etcetera. Though they aren't really worth listening to. Some spectators were actually excited when RvN joined too.
There are those amongst Leicester's support who, politely, never wanted the 48-year-old. As well as people who were intrigued by the prospect of having him on Filbert Way, but considered him slightly under qualified. I was in the latter category. But what's the current feeling?
"Delaine Moore: What this game showed is no matter how much effort we put in, how hard we work….. we have absolutely nothing up top and relying on a almost 40 year old every week is absolutely ridiculous when we have just had a transfer window.Syuro_Rekishi: I personally think we played good, just bad luck and others… I am going to trust Ruud throughout so don’t sack him now… He can gather his things together he just needs more time.JK: Another poor performance, Chelsea weren’t good either, but still fairly comfortable for them. Ruud’s team selection and game management is just baffling. His lack of experience is showing week in week out. He and the players need to wake up. James Taylor: We seemed more solid at the back, however same issues arise, not closing down and they scored. We also don't create enough going forward which puts even more pressure on the defence. We lack so much quality going forward teams can just push players further forward without a worry"Leicestershire Live
