Ruud van Nistelrooy is hoping to remain in the Premier League after leaving Manchester United.

Van Nistelrooy has left his role as an assistant at Manchester United following the arrival of Ruben Amorim as the club’s new head coach.

The Dutchman returned to his former club in the summer as part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff, before taking over as interim manager following Ten Hag’s dismissal.

Van Nistelrooy led Manchester United to three wins and a draw from his four games in charge, but Amorim’s desire for his own coaching staff has seen him leave Old Trafford.

With his coaching credentials enhanced following his temporary tenure, Van Nistelrooy is reportedly eyeing a senior role in the Premier League. According to Football Insider, the 48-year-old is monitoring the situations at Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace in case of potential opportunity.

Van Nistelrooy previously coach PSV Eindhoven during the 2022/23 season and led the side to the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield, though departed before the end of the campaign due to a lack of backing from the board.
