Ruud van Nistelrooy is leaving Manchester United. The club announced via official channels that his is among several departures from the coaching staff including Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel, as Ruben Amorim is set to bring in his own core of tactical minds from Portugal and Sporting.
Last summer, the Dutch enclave joined Erik ten Hag’s technical staff, but after the latter’s dismissal, Van Nistelrooy, Hake, Ten Rouwelaar and Morel had to leave after staying around in an interim capacity. Manchester United’s statement said:
“We are grateful for his contribution and the way he has approached his role during his time at the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford. We will communicate the new composition of the coaching staff at a later date.”
The departure of club legend Van Nistelrooy is particularly surprising as the former striker was initially supposed to become assistant to new coach Ruben Amorim after acting as a temporary place-holder in the technical area.
Amorim officially became the new boss of Manchester United on the 11th of November after the initial announcement arrived on the first day of the month. Whether this decision follows discussions between the new coach and the old technical staff is unknown.
