Liverpool will clash heads with Real Madrid at Stade de France on Saturday night, hoping to produce a positive result and lift their seventh Champions League title. The Reds will be heading into the contest on the back of a 3-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, whereas the Los Blancos recorded a 0-0 stalemate with Real Betis on May 21.

Team News

David Alaba’s adductor injury kept him out of the final league match against Real Betis on Friday, but the Austrian defender has re-joined his teammates for training and could be declared fit for the clash with Liverpool.

Marcelo remains doubtful with a small physical problem, but Carlo Ancelotti assured the fans that he would be fine for the match.

“Marcelo has a small physical problem but will be fine, motivation is huge.” – The gaffer stated.

Ancelotti will probably opt for his usual 4-3-3 formation; however, the Italian tactician is expected to make a couple of changes from the last game as David Alaba will likely make his way back into the starting eleven.

Defence

Thibaut Courtois will continue to operate in between the sticks for the men in white. The Belgian international has kept two clean sheets in his last five appearances across all competitions, so he would look to add to his tally on Saturday.

David Alaba will form his customary centre-half partnership with Eder Militao at the heart of Real Madrid’s backline.

Ferland Mendy should start at the left-back spot, whereas Dani Carvajal will fill in on the other flank as the right-back. The full-backs will be expected to stay compact and keep their shape defensively.

Midfield

Casemiro will feature alongside Luka Modric in the holding midfield position, with the former being assigned more of a defensive role to shield his side’s back four, whereas Toni Kroos will start in the central midfield position to complete the midfield trio.

Eduardo Camavinga might have to settle for a place on the bench; however, he could be brought on in the second half of the game if needed.

Attack

Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde will take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right-wing, respectively.

Karim Benzema will lead the line for his side against Liverpool this weekend. The 34-year-old striker is in blistering goal-scoring form at the moment, and he would hope to add to the tally when he faces off against the defence that has conceded four goals in their last five matches across all competitions.
