La Liga outfit Valencia have on Monday been dealt a heavy blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that defender Thierry Correia has been ruled out long-term through injury.

Right-back Thierry, for his part, featured from the off once more on Sunday, as struggling Valencia locked horns with Getafe in a La Liga clash.

Early in the 2nd-half, however, the 25-year-old went to ground clutching his knee, and in evident distress.

After being tended to by the visitors’ medical team at the Estadio Coliseum, it was quickly established that Thierry was in no condition to continue, stretchered off as a result.

The Portuguese, who has featured in all 11 of Valencia’s league outings thus far this season, was in turn put through a round of medical tests on Monday morning.

And, unfortunately for club and player alike, such tests confirmed the worst.

As per a statement across Los Che’s website and social media platforms:

‘Valencia CF fullback Thierry Correia has been diagnosed with a ruptured left anterior cruciate ligament, suffered during the match against Getafe this past Sunday.

‘The club’s Medical Department, together with the player, are evaluating the options for a treatment and recovery plan.’
