Valencia fans detained in Singapore over protest against Peter Lim’s ownership | OneFootball

Police have detained two Valencia supporters on honeymoon in Singapore after they protested against Peter Lim’s ownership of the Spanish club, according to the BBC.

Valencia fan Dani Cuesta posted photographs from several locations in Singapore, including from outside what is believed to be Peter Lim’s home.

The images quickly went viral on social media, and Cuesta and his wife Mireia Saez were later stopped from leaving the country on Friday.

They have had their passports confiscated while a police investigation takes place, Valencia Mayor Maria Jose Catala told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

The story has generated plenty of media coverage, and Valencia fans are reportedly outraged at how the Spanish newlyweds are being treated in Singapore.

The banners criticising Lim have been a common sight around the city and the club’s Mestalla Stadium in recent years.

The magnate became the first foreign owner of the club in 2014. However, he has become very unpopular among the supporters due to the club’s poor performances and huge debts.

Having previously won six league titles, Valencia are now languishing 18th in the La Liga standings after winning just one of their nine games.
