Arsenal 4-1 Vålerenga

The Gunners rounded off a turbulent week with the visit of Vålerenga. After their tough run, the Gunners secured a strong 4-1 win. You can read Liberty Simons’ report of Arsenal’s first match since the departure of Jonas Eidevall right here.

Juventus 0-2 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich made it two wins from two with a hard fought win in Turin. The German side took the lead after just 17 minutes when Linda Dallmann hooked home from close range as Juve struggled to clear a corner.

Amalie Vangsgaard drew a smart save from Maria Grohs in the 27th minute as they searched for an equaliser. Vangsgaard created a wonderful chance for herself after the break, but put the effort wide of goal.

Pernille Harder made sure of the points on 73 minutes. Again, Juve couldn’t deal with a Bayern corner and the Danish superstar slammed the ball home at the second attempt.

St Pölten 2-3 Manchester City

Manchester City headed to Vienna in their latest UWCL challenge, looking to build on their impressive win against Barcelona last week. Beth Fisher reported on the action following City’s 3-2 thrilling win.

Barcelona 9-0 Hammarby

Laura Busto Chavala was in Catalunya as the reigning champions put Hammarby to the sword in emphatic fashion. Barcelona equalled their highest ever UWCL result with a sensational 9-0 triumph. Read all about it in her report here.

Galatasaray 1-6 Roma

Roma demolished Galatasaray in Istanbul to maintain their perfect start in Group A.

Hawa Cissoko marked her UWCL debut with a goal as she powered home a header in the seventh minute. Valentina Giacinti doubled the lead with a looping header before Évelyne Viens missed a glorious chance to make it three.

Galatasaray goalkeeper Gamze Yaman tipped a Manuela Giugliano penalty onto the bar in first half stoppage time.

Roma let rip in the second half. Emilie Haavi cut in on her right foot and rifled home a devastating shot with 10 minutes gone. Giugliano then made up for her penalty miss on the hour as she coolly diverted home Haavi’s pass to make it four.

The hosts scored their first ever group stage goal with 15 minutes remaining. Andrea Stasková pounced and fired a shot through Camelia Ceasar. However, late goals from Marta Pandini and Alice Corelli sealed a crushing win for the Italian champions.

Wolfsburg 0-2 Lyon

Wolfsburg remain with a single point in this season’s group stage after a 2-0 defeat to Lyon in Germany. Legendary defender Wendie Renard gave the French champions the lead after eight minutes with a towering header.

Lindsey Horan made it 2-0 from the spot after Melchie Dumornay was brought down in the box by Janina Minge. Lyon had chances to add to their tally. Dumornay forced Merle Frohms into a good save with a curling effort with 25 minutes left.

Sveindís Jónsdóttir had a late effort comfortably saved by Christian Endler as Die Wölfinnen were forced to endure another frustrating European night.

Real Madrid 4-0 Celtic

Real Madrid brushed Celtic aside to record their first win in this season’s campaign. The home side might’ve taken the lead in the opening 30 seconds, but a smart save from Kelsey Daugherty denied Athena del Castillo.

A trademark long range stunner from Caroline Weir opened the scoring for the hosts with just seven minutes played. A late second half surge eventually took the game totally away from Celtic. Eva Navarro’s cross was headed home by a stooping Signe Bruun with just under 20 minutes left.

Caroline Møller sealed the win 10 minutes from full-time as she took advantage of a loose pass from Celtic’s Bruna Lourenço. Taking one touch to set herself, her second lifted the ball over the helpless Daughtery. Linda Caicedo rounded off the night as she dispatched a penalty to make it 4-0.

FC Twente 1-3 Chelsea

Chelsea maintained their perfect record under Sonia Bompastor with a win in Enschede on Thursday night. Aggie Beever-Jones’ shot from the edge of the box was deflected over Twente goalkeeper Olivia Clark to give the Blues the lead.

Maika Hamano doubled the lead after 18 minutes. Her quick thinking and lofted shot caught Clark out and left her clutching at thin air. Guro Reiten made sure of the win from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute. The Norwegian sent Clark the wrong way after Mayra Ramírez had been fouled by Lieske Carleer.

The hosts grabbed a consolation five minutes later through Nikée van Dijk. She was sent through by a wonderful long range ball from Ella Peddemors. Van Dijk always had the beating of Nathalie Björn and finished clinically across Zećira Mušović.
