It’s the first leg of the second play-off round for this season’s Women’s Champions League with the likes of Real Madrid, Roma and PSG in action.
Here’s what happened.
Scorers: Weir 14′,52′, Athenea 34′
Real Madrid handed out a thrashing of Rosenborg in the first leg of this Champions League clash in Norway.
New signing Caroline Weir got Madrid off the mark with a spectacular bending effort that found the top corner from outside the box.
Athenea made it 2-0 with another impressive strike which crept under the goalkeeper after being hit with pace from the edge of the area.
And Weir doubled her tally with a simpler finish, this time a tap-in which took advantage of some poor goalkeeping from the home side.
The second leg of this match will be played in a week’s time, but it has to be said that Rosenborg face a huge uphill battle after a comprehensive defeat at home.
Scorers: MartĂnková 51′; Bartoli 78′, Haavi 90′
Roma needed a last-gasp winner to take a lead back to Rome for the the second leg of this tie.
This was a match that Roma dominated from the outset, only to go behind thanks to a mistake which played Sparta’s Lucie MartĂnková through on goal.
The Giallorosse did manage to get back on equal terms when Elisa Bartoli volleyed home with just over ten minutes remaining.
A dramatic late winner from Emilie Haavi meant that Roma took a deserved lead back to Italy for the second leg next Thursday.
Scorers: Martens 14′, Diani 86′; Bergman-Lundin 24′
A late goal from France international Kadidiatou Diani spared PSG’s blushes as the home side took a 2-1 lead into next week’s second leg with BK Häcken.
PSG started strongly from the outset, and it was former Barcelona forward Lieke Martens that opened the scoring for the Parisian side during her first Champions League appearance for her new club, after heading home an outswinging corner from Ramona Bachmann.
Yet Häcken had a surprise in store, as Marika Bergman-Lundin outfoxed the PSG defence and slotted home through the legs of veteran goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi.
From there, a well-organised defensive setup from the Swedish side frustrated PSG, but the quality of the home side eventually shone through as Diani got on the end of a cross from the right-hand side late on to seal the result.
The second legs of this week’s UWCL matches will be played on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
