Giant killers Paris FC eliminate Real Madrid

Scorer: Thiney 79′ (P)

Real Madrid were officially eliminated from the UWCL after a loss at home to an impressive Paris FC side.

Neither team had their scoring boots on over 90 minutes and failed to take their best chances when they arrived. Madrid were notably frustrated by Paris FC’s scrappy defending, while the visitors missed huge opportunities in front of goal.

In the end, Madrid couldn’t shake their struggling form in the competition, and the club with the most Champions League titles in men’s football was left heartbroken in the women’s competition.

A late mistake allowed Gaëtane Thiney to beat Misa from the penalty spot with a Panenka and keep the French side alive for the knockouts.

They notably won both their clashes against the Spanish giants and have already knocked out Arsenal and Wolfsburg.

Madrid have yet to record a win in the competition this season and sit bottom of the group with just one point. Paris FC, meanwhile, are third and only two points off leaders Chelsea.

Chelsea earn revenge in Sweden

Scorers: ; Larrisey 26′; Kerr 14′, Cuthbert 52′, 64′

Chelsea made up for a shock draw last time out by piling on the goals against BK Häcken.

Emma Hayes’ side ran the show in Sweden with almost 70% possession and 22 shots to nine as their star attacker kicked off the show.

Sam Kerr scored her fifth UWCL goal of the season after redirecting a cross into the roof of the net from a tight angle only minutes after kick-off.

Clarissa Larisey managed to equalise with a pin-point header, but a different Blues star found her touch after the break to help the visitors come out on top.

Erin Cuthbert was left unmarked in the box and found the far right corner before securing a brace with a solo run and finish from a tight angle to scrape the ball past goalkeeper Jennifer Falk.

The result means Chelsea moved to the top of the group, while Häcken sit second only one point back.

Ajax end Bayern’s unbeaten run

Scorers: Leuchter 44′

Bayern Munich’s unbeaten run in the UWCL group stage has come to an end after a challenging clash at Ajax.

The visitors were initially on the front foot, but a formidable defence kept the German side at bay. Instead, the hosts made the most of their best opportunity.

Ashleigh Weerden had an effort from outside the box hit the crossbar before Ajax broke the deadlock via Romee Leuchter on the stroke of half-time.

The No. 7 caught Bayern’s defence flatfooted and found herself alone in the box before drilling a low shot beyond goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs.

The German side ramped up the pressure, but Ajax continued to be challenging at home. Fluid team movements from the Dutch side notably cut Bayern apart.

In the end, the visitors couldn’t find an equaliser and the result shook up the table massively. Ajax sit top and Bayern drop to third, but only three points separate top from bottom.

Vital away win for PSG

Scorers: Chawinga 26′, Katoto 67′, Albert 78′; Giugliano 88′

Paris Saint Germain earned a vital win away at Roma to move themselves out from the bottom of Group C.

The hosts had more possession of the ball and more chances but lacked a finishing touch as attackers Evelyne Viens and Valentina Giacinti were silenced.

The deadlock broke when PSG capitalised on a misplaced pass, and Tabitha Chawinga luckily tapped home a sloppy first touch.

Marie-Antoinette Katoto doubled the lead after beating three Roma defenders in the box and striking from point-blank range.

A late third then arrived via a volley from Korbin Albert, which was her first for the club.

Roma did erase PSG’s clean sheet hopes but Manuela Giugliano’s strike arrived too late for a comeback.

Looking at the group, the French side rose to second while Roma sit last. But only three points separate top from bottom.
