Chelsea were unable to replicate last week’s 7-0 thrashing of win at Servette, with the Swiss side keeping the Blues at bay for over an hour at Kingsmeadow. Zecira Musovic was called upon to keep out a Mónica Mendes back-heel, before Fran Kirby set up Sam Kerr to broke the deadlock midway through the second half. Servette later had Amandine Soulard sent off.

Next up for Chelsea on 8 December is a home tie with Joe Montemurro’s Juventus, who pulled off a 2-0 away win over Wolfsburg.

Juve went ahead when forcing an own-goal by Kathrin-Julia Hendrich from a Cristiana Girelli cross and with Wolfsburg going in search of a late leveller, they were caught out by a breakaway in stoppage-time. Barbara Bonansea raced forward and slipped in Andrea Stašková, whose shot went in off keeper Almuth Shult’s boot and the far post.

Paris Saint-Germain won Group B with a 2-0 success at Real Madrid, to make it four wins from four. Marie-Antoinette Katoto opened the scoring and a Sakina Karchaoui strike ensured their progress.

Kharkiv stayed in contention with a 2-0 win in Breidablik, where Olha Ovdiychuk played in Yuliia Shevchuk to score, before netting the second from distance herself.
