Four down, two to go. Here’s the biggest and best from the latest round of Women’s Champions League fixtures.
Barcelona have made good on their favourites tag so far this year and Wednesday was no different. Another big win, another superb team goal.
Last season saw Lyon’s reign end. Having won the competition five years in a row, they lost out. But they didn’t win the competition in 2021 and Wednesday saw them suffer their first defeat outside of France since 2013. Just.
And there was a special guest there to see it.
A day later, Wolfsburg, who beat Bayern Munich in the league at the weekend, lost 2-0 at home against Juventus and now face a huge task to get out of the group stage.
The number of top women’s clubs, clubs capable of beating anyone on their day, is only growing.
Arsenal went ahead early against Køge but had to toil before putting the game to bed due to some great defending. And none of it was better than this.

What a block!
Is there a better finish in football? A more aesthetically pleasing finish?
Just stunning.
So Barcelona are favourites, we know that, but PSG joined them in the knockout rounds with a second win in as many weeks against Real Madrid. How about this for a run, by the way?
The French champions are yet to concede in their four games and have as good a claim as anyone else to be the biggest threat to Barça’s crown.
