The Group of Death Award

We wondered when the draw was made whether Wolfsburg-Chelsea-Juventus-Servette was the Group of Death or whether it was Barcelona-Arsenal-Hoffenheim-Køge.

The answer seems obvious now.

Chelsea and Juventus battled before the Blues, who lost their opening game, managed to win 2-1 in front of around 16,000 fans in Turin.

If we’re going to get late group stage drama, it’s likely to be here.

Hat-trick Heroes

Wednesday night was good for goal glut, with Jordyn Huitema bagging a first half hat-trick for PSG and Caroline Møller doing the same thing for Real Madrid a few hours later.

The golden boot race begins here.

Our one to watch award

Speaking of the golden boot race, Lea Schüller netted twice as Bayern Munich recovered from their disappointing opening game draw with Benfica.

Schüller has six goals in five Frauen Bundesliga games this season and scored six in seven in the Champions League last season. Keep an eye on how she does in the weeks to come.

Patience pays off

Barcelona have absolutely dominated both of their group stage matches so far but they’ve had to wait for the breakthrough.

The quality of the side, and their supreme confidence, has meant that’s never deterred them and they have grabbed their reward on both occasions.

Throwback Thursday

Tobin Heath made her first UWCL start in eight years and marked it with a goal for Arsenal in the impressive 4-0 win over Hoffenheim.

Surely that’s just the first of many for the USWNT star in red and white.
