Mewis is currently with Gotham FC, who won the 2023 NWSL Championships and has reintroduced herself as a prominent figure for the USA.

After a six-year absence from the national team, she returned to represent the Stars and Stripes in 2020. She was notably part of the team that competed in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The signing will be a boost for the Hammers as they sit second from the bottom in the WSL table.

It would also allow Gotham a spot to sign free-agent targets Rose Lavelle, Emily Sonnett and Crystal Dunn, who have been heavily linked with the club.
