Juventus star midfielder Weston McKennie will reportedly be ready to face Inter Milan in the upcoming Derby d’Italia.
According to FCInterNews, the United States international carries no severe injury despite earlier concerns after being prematurely released by the USMNT’s camp.
New US head coach Mauricio Pochettino has allowed McKennie and AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic to leave the national team’s camp ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Mexico.
Both players were in the starting line-up on the Argentine manager’s touchline debut at the weekend.
Pochettino got his tenure off to a winning start as the USMNT squeaked past Panama 2-0 in a friendly.
However, McKennie’s early release shortly after the game placed Juventus on red alert.
Despite intense exit speculation in the summer, the 26-year-old has stayed at the Allianz Stadium.
In an unexpected turn of events, he has become one of Thiago Motta’s most trusted midfielders this season.
McKennie has made four Serie A appearances, leapfrogging marquee summer arrival Douglas Luiz in the pecking order.
His impressive form and ability to adapt to multiple positions have made him an integral part of the team.
Therefore, when the news of his potential injury broke, Juventus fans understandably felt a sense of concern.
But it was a false alarm.
McKennie will be ready for the upcoming matches.
After undergoing checks at the JMedical, the USMNT ace has received the clearance to return to action, much to the relief of Juventus chiefs.
Indeed, the ex-Schalke 04 star will face Inter.
His Nerazzurri counterpart, Nicolo Barella, will also feature in the highly-anticipated Derby d’Italia.
The standout midfielder has recently returned to training and could start Sunday’s game against Roma.
Simone Inzaghi’s men head to the Stadio Olimpico for their first post-international break fixture.
