It is a formative time for the United States Men’s National Team.

With both a Gold Cup and CONCACAF Nations League on the horizon, plus the looming 2026 World Cup on home soil, the USMNT needs to get the next few months and years right.

In an interesting update from Fox Soccer, however, the plan is to use two different squads for the Gold Cup and CONCACAF Nations League this summer.

This will not be new to USA fans, as former manager Gregg Berhalter similarly picked two separate squads for the two competitions in 2021, with the Gold Cup squad being heavily MLS-influenced and the Nations League squad featuring European-based players.

While the US Soccer Federation is still on the hunt for a new head coach, interim boss Anthony Hudson will remain at the helm for both tournaments.

Additionally, reports suggest that the USSF identified former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch as their number one candidate for the vacancy, but no deal is said to be close at this time.
