The United States Men’s National Team has secured another dual-national ahead of the Gold Cup this summer.
Following the arrival of Florian Balogun, FIFA approved a change of association request for Los Angeles FC midfielder Timothy Tillman.
Born in Germany and after representing Die Mannschaft at the youth level, the 24-year-old will now represent the USA.
Tillman came up through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich, Greuther Fürth and FC Nürnberg and now has three goals and two assists for LAFC in 16 games.
If the name sounds familiar, that is because it’s already hit the international stage for the USA through his younger brother Malik (currently at Rangers).
“To represent the United States is obviously making me proud. I’m really honored to do so and I’m looking forward to the future with the United States,” said the senior Tillman.
“Telling my family about it was really exciting. As a kid, my brother and I dreamt of playing for a national team together and now we’re one step closer.”
The duo are now the ninth set of brothers to represent the American side.
