A stunning long-range strike from Tyler Adams gave Gregg Berhalter’s side the lead just before half-time.

With Giovanni Reyna tucking in at the near post on the half volley to make it 2-0 just after the hour mark.

Mexico thought they’d been given a route back into the game when USMNT defender Antonee Robinson conceded a penalty for a high boot, but the referee’s on-field decision was overturned by a VAR check.

USMNT captain Christian Pulisic got his hands on the trophy for the third successive year at full-time, and the Stars and Stripes will hope to take this momentum into the Copa América coming up this summer.

The final was marred, however, by homophobic chants from the crowd, which forced the match to be stopped twice in the dying stages.
