Brazil had to come from behind to knockout Cameroon, with North Korea or Austria to be their next opponents. Naomi Neto netted a penalty and Priscila pulled Brazil level, before goals at the start and end of extra time by Dudinha were decisive.

Spain set up a clash with Japan or Nigeria when also fighting back to progress. Florianne Jourde broke the deadlock after the hour for Canada, only for Jone Amezaga to swiftly respond and Silvia Lloris to get the second for Spain with nine minutes left.
