There were no goals and no shortage of substitutes as USA and Uruguay could not be separated in their friendly in Kansas City on Sunday.
Scorers: N/A
Uruguay started the stronger, with veteran defender Diego Godín unlucky not to score when his shot was cleared off the line by DeAndre Yedlin.
The Yanks eventually found their feet, and created chances of their own with striker Jesús Ferreira testing Fernando Muslera with a shot moments before he was unable to direct a vicious Yedlin cross into the net.
Uruguay should have taken the lead just after the hour mark, but American goalkeeper Shaun Johnson pulled off an excellent point-blank save to deny Mathías Olivera.
There was some controversy late in the game when La Celeste introduced Facundo Pellistri and Guillermo Varela. That brought their number of substitutions to seven, above the permitted six allowed, and led to frustration in the opposition technical area.
Uruguay missed a glorious chance in stoppage time when Edinson Cavani skewed wide after being set up by Darwin Núñez
Next up for the Stars and Stripes is a Concacaf Nations League date with Grenada in Austin on Friday, while Uruguay finish their summer friendly schedule at home to Jamaica on Saturday.
