Uriel Antuna is proving the main stumbling block to what would be a sensational swap deal involving arch rivals Chivas and América.
The two clubs have reportedly been in talks about exchanging Antuna and Sebastian Córdova.
However ESPN claim that sources close to the story have told them that the Flock’s winger is not happy with the salary being offered by Las Águilas, and also has general reservations about the potential move to Mexico City.
Córdova, on the other hand, is said to be more than happy to cross the Clásico Nacional divide.
Antuna’s reluctance to sign off has caused both sides to hit the pause button on negotiations, but they are expcected to try and push the deal though next week.
Even if the clubs and players end up reaching agreement, it appears a sizeable section of the Azulcrema fanbase is aghast at the prospect.
They have taken to social media with the hashtag ‘#AntunaNoFirmes’ to try and dissuade the former LA Galaxy man from trading the Estadio Akron for the Estadio Azteca.
The situation is sure to make for interesting conversation at the Mexico senior national camp, where both players are currently involved in preparations for the 8 December friendly against Chile in Austin, Texas.
