For the third straight time, Mexico will be headed to the Olympics after defeating Canada 2-0 in last night’s Concacaf Pre-Olympic Tournament semi-finals.

They will be joined by Honduras, who defeated the United States 2-1 to earn their fourth consecutive berth in the quadrennial event.

For the third game in a row, it was Chivas star Uriel Antuna who scored Mexico’s first goal, with El Tri taking advantage of poor play in the back.

Antuna, with three goals, is the tournament’s second-leading scorer, only behind América’s Sebastián Córdova (four), who scored a hat-trick against the Dominican Republic in the first game of the tournament.

Johan Vásquez would double Mexico’s lead just seven minutes later, which held as Mexico booked their place in Tokyo.

Both Mexico and Honduras will face off on Tuesday to determine the Concacaf U-23 champion.
