Express has stated in a recent report that West Ham United are closing in on signing Watford midfielder Ismaila Sarr this summer. It has also been mentioned that the Hammers have made an initial bid of £25M for the Senegalese forward to lure him to London Stadium as the Hornets remain relegated this season.

Sarr’s Campaign For Watford This Season

The 24-year-old has had a solid campaign at Vicarage Road, as he produced some influential displays in the final third. He has managed to score 5 goals and create 2 assists over 22 appearances this season in the Premier League.

The Senegal international has impressed in the right-wing featuring as a starter for most of the season. He has given a good account of himself after averaging 1.8 shots, 1.0 key passes, 0.5 tackles, 0.4 interceptions and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has been decent in passing the ball to his teammates after completing 77.5% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Is It A Good Move From West Ham United Boss David Moyes?

Ismaila Sarr has done well to establish himself in the starting XI at Vicarage Road. He excels at getting past the defenders with his agility and pace. Furthermore, his positioning in the final third allows him to convert some clear-cut goal-scoring chances in the penalty box. He can create space for himself and make some decent runs down the right flank.

However, the Senegalese forward is primarily a right-winger but is versatile enough to play as a right-sided wide player and in the centre-forward position. However, he has to improve on his link-up play as he remains poor in distributing the ball to his teammates.

He would most likely replace Andriy Yarmolenko after David Moyes has allowed the West Ham winger to leave the London Stadium on a free transfer. Sarr fits the bill perfectly and at the age of 24, he can improve further over the coming years and help them achieve a top-four finish.

Moyes would have no problem signing Ismaila Sarr as the Hornets have been relegated from the Premier League and the winger is looking to continue playing at the top of English football.
