In a recent report, Fanatik provided an update on the future of Aston Villa winger Trezeguet who enjoyed a decent loan spell at Istanbul Basaksehir recently. It has been claimed that Trabzonspor are in talks with the Villans outcast over a potential move this summer.

Trezeguet’s Impressive Loan Spell At Istanbul Recently

Trezeguet had a fruitful loan spell in Turkish football as he managed to put in a handful of eye-catching performances on the left side of Basaksehir’s attack. The Egypt international scored six times and grabbed four assists in 13 matches for the Turkish outfit last season across all competitions.

The 27-year-old made a positive impact at both ends of the field based on his average of 0.9 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 2.9 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig.

He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 83.6% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Should Aston Villa Boss Steven Gerrard Cash In On Trezeguet This Summer?

Trezeguet is a tough-tackling wide player who works hard to help his teammates out defensively when needed. He can complete some decent dribbles in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field.

The Egyptian talent has got the vision to cut open the opposition defence with a killer pass in the opposition half and can chip in by scoring a few important goals up top. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger or play as an attacking midfielder if required.

However, Trezeguet has struggled to prove his worth at Villa Park thus far. He is far too inconsistent to become a key asset in Steven Gerrard‘s squad. His current contract with the West Midlands club is set to run out next summer.

Thus, it is only logical for Aston Villa to cash in on him in this off-season rather than risk losing him as a free agent at the end of next season. The Egyptian wing wizard can also benefit from sealing a move permanently to play in Turkish football where he recently enjoyed a productive loan spell.
