In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Dean Jones provided an update on the future of Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey. Jones said,

“The roles have been reversed with Tielemans because Ramsey is now the one that is having to get used to life on the bench, but this will turn around again.

“I think that Ramsey is still considered a really important player at Aston Villa. There definitely could be offers for him, and I think anything over £50million is going to lead to further conversations over whether Villa might have to consider it, but this is not a player that they are looking to offload. He is somebody they still value highly.”

Ramsey’s Recent Form At Villa Park

Ramsey is having a decent campaign at the West Midlands club as he has served as an important member of Unai Emery’s squad. The English talent has been involved in 18 matches for Aston Villa this season, scoring one goal and grabbing one assist in various competitions.

The 22-year-old has seen most of his appearance come off the bench but has done well to average 1.2 tackles, 1.0 shots, and 0.4 key passes per game in Premier League football. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 79.7% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

What Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Do With Regards To Ramsey?

Ramsey is a tough-tackling midfielder who can create the odd chance for his teammates when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. The English sensation can shoot the ball purely and with venom from long range but needs to figure out a way to improve his offensive numbers if he wants to earn more playing time in the future.

At the moment, Ramsey is finding himself behind Youri Tielemans in Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s pecking order. However, his situation could change in the coming weeks as the Villans look to push for a European spot in the Premier League this season.

the West Midlands club receive a favourable offer for him from a top club in the summer, Emery would find it difficult not to cash in on him.
