In a recent report, Fabrizio Romano’s the Daily Briefing offered an update on Real Madrid and their pursuit of LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro. It has been stated that Los Blancos are planning to offer less than €40m to bring the French centre-back to the Spanish capital this summer.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a solid campaign at the French club after putting in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their backline. Yoro has participated in 44 matches for LOSC Lille this season, netting three goals on all fronts.

The talented teenager has given a good account of himself on the defensive third of the pitch as he is averaging 1.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per game in Ligue 1. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the back after making 92.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Lille will run out at the end of next season. Therefore, Los Blancos could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal later this summer.

Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Yoro Up?

Yoro loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and excels at playing his way out from inside his half.

Standing at 1.90m, the French talent can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. However, there are some concerns over whether he can maintain his good form in Spain if Real Madrid manage to get him on board at the end of this season.

Yoro would add more quality and depth to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. He might even help Los Blancos compete across all competitions next season. Thus, it makes sense for the Madrid giants to try and snap him up in the upcoming transfer period.

At 18, Yoro has got a promising future ahead of him and could be a great acquisition for Real Madrid in the long run. All in all, Ancelotti should focus on going all out to recruit him this year.
