In a recent report, Marca offered an update on Real Madrid and their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham. It is understood that Los Blancos are unwilling to meet the German club’s £130m asking price for their prized asset.

Bellingham’s Outstanding Season With Dortmund

Bellingham is enjoying a great campaign for both his club and country as he has managed to produce a lot of influential displays at the centre of the park. The 19-year-old has scored nine times and grabbed three assists in 22 matches for Dortmund this season across various competitions.

The English sensation has been a wonderful two-way player for the German club since he averaged 3.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 2.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass success rate of 82.5% in the German first division (stats via whoscored).

Bellingham is currently playing at a very high level. Hence, it is no surprise that Dortmund are demanding such a big fee for him which could rule Real Madrid out of the race to land him next year.

What Should Be Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Play With Regards To Bellingham?

Bellingham is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger quickly to make some important interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when needed and is an accurate passer of the ball. The England international can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range and is proficient at completing some decent dribbles in the final third. He mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a wide player on either flank if asked to do so.

At 19, Bellingham has got the potential to become the best player in his position someday. Thus, Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to change the Madrid club’s stance on signing the English talent for such a high fee as he will be well worth it in the long run. He will no doubt enhance the quality of Ancelotti’s midfield department.

Bellingham is already good enough to help Real Madrid challenge for a lot of major trophies in the coming seasons. He could even serve as a perfect, long-term successor to Luka Modric at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Thus, Ancelotti should consider meeting Dortmund’s demands for their star midfielder next summer.
