In a recent post on X, journalist David Ornstein offered an update on Liverpool and their pursuit of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. It has been stated that the Hungary international is set to have his medical today and will pen a five-year deal with the Merseyside club.

Kerkez’s Impressive Rise In English Football

Kerkez enjoyed a solid campaign at the English club after he produced a run of impressive displays on the left side of their backline. The Hungarian talent found the back of the net twice and secured six assists in 41 matches for Bournemouth last season in all competitions.

The 21-year-old was a solid presence when defending inside his half as he made 52 tackles, 38 blocks and 45 interceptions in the Premier League. He was even excellent when distributing possession from the left flank based on his pass completion rate of 75.8% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Kerkez is under contract at the English club until the summer of 2028. Hence, the Reds would do well to bring him on board this off-season.

Will Kerkez Be A Good Signing For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Kerkez is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a decent crosser as well.

The Hungarian talent can create some inviting chances for his teammates to score and is a strong runner with the ball. Kerkez is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. He has already got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Merseyside club.

We can expect Kerkez to bring more quality to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s starting XI. He has what it takes to compete for regular first-team football at Anfield next season.

At 21, Kerkez has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, he would be an excellent signing for the Reds in the long run.
