The South African forward has been a target of the Tractor Boys.

Burnley and Ipswich Town are yet to come to an agreement on the terms of a loan that would see Lyle Foster head to Portman Road on loan.

Foster's future is still up in the air as Burnley and Ipswich look to thrash out a deal for the 23-year-old, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The journalist had previously reported that he was nearing a move back to the Premier League on an initial temporary basis, with a mandatory buy clause set at £25 million at the end of the loan.

This news emerged on Tuesday, but, despite talks being advanced then, the two sides are still in negotiations over the deal.

Burnley & Ipswich yet to agree on Lyle Foster deal

The two parties are still at the negotiating table over a deal for the South African forward that will have big domino effects for both clubs.

Burnley have needed to offload players this summer; unfortunately for them, it's all of their best ones that are being poached away from them, with Foster being the latest target.

They have already sold Wilson Odobert, Dara O'Shea, Sander Berge and others this summer, and the possibility of more players exiting the doors at Turf Moor still remains.

If Foster and Wout Weghorst - who is set to join Ajax, according to Fabrizio Romano - both move on from the Clarets before Friday's deadline, Scott Parker will be short of options up top. Summer signing Andreas Hountondji would be the de facto first-choice number nine.

There is, of course, no guarantee that Foster will leave. It was reported by SNL24 earlier in the summer that he was happy to stay at Turf Moor with Parker.

Alan Nixon has stated that any departure of Foster could lead to Burnley making a move for Leicester City's Tom Cannon. He is also being courted by fellow Championship rivals Luton Town, Hull City, and Sunderland, but the Clarets could enter the race if they lose their 23-year-old forward.

Burnley looking to make late additions

While they appear to have been gutted of a lot of their top talent in recent weeks and days, the Clarets aren't sitting on their hands doing nothing.

A bid has been made for Plymouth Argyle winger Morgan Whittaker, and Mike McGrath has reported that Stoke City midfielder Josh Laurent has finalised his move to Turf Moor.

The reasons for Burnley fans to be concerned

One of the big reasons why many felt the Clarets were a strong contender to go back up to the Premier League this season was because they had kept a largely talented group mostly intact. That can no longer be said about the team that Parker has to work with.

They are making moves to try and replace some of the talent that they have lost. That cohesion that Burnley had built up over time may have taken a big hit in this last week or so, with so many players departing and some new ones coming in too.

It could take some time to get things back to where they were in the first two games of the new campaign. That's not a position that the Clarets supporters would have wanted to be in at the end of the window after the start they had.
