Liverpool will only be able to add attacking options to their squad if players already at the club that play in the final third leave.
The Reds have begun their summer work by adding Ibrahima Konate to the squad and there now seems a view that adding another midfielder and another attacker would be the ideal way to go in the remaining time of the transfer window.
In terms of the latter position, though, it looks as though we’re going to need to move players on first of all to free up some room.
This comes from David Lynch for the Liverpool Echo:
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
No surprises here.
Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri are decent players but they are not good enough to be at Liverpool any more – last season probably showed that as they failed to get into the side despite the struggles of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
A new attacker, one that can have a similar impact to Diogo Jota, would be great but it remains to be seen whether the Reds can find such a player and get him in, providing there is even a spot in the squad for him.
