Ipswich Town are seeking a higher fee than £100,000 for Vaclav Hladky from Aberdeen this summer, according to a report from the East Anglian Daily Times.

Football Scotland reported yesterday that the Blues were willing to sell the 31-year-old to The Dons for the aforementioned amount.

However, it is understood that Ipswich’s asking price is higher than £100,000 due to the fact that Aberdeen could have money to spend this summer after selling Calvin Ramsay to Liverpool for a fee believed to be in the region of £6.5m.

As well as being linked with a move to the Scottish outfit, Hladky is also attracting interest from a number of unnamed sides.

The goalkeeper played under current Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin during his time at St Mirren.

Signed by Ipswich last year, the keeper failed to make a lasting impression during the previous campaign due to the presence of Christian Walton.

Limited to just 12 league appearances, Hladky is likely to be forced to watch on from the bench if he stays at Portman Road for the 2022/23 campaign.

Providing that they receive a suitable offer for Hladky, Ipswich will allow him to move on to pastures new in the current transfer window.

The Verdict

When you consider that Hladky’s current contract at Ipswich is set to run until 2024, it is hardly a surprise that the club are looking to secure a bigger fee than £100,000 for him from Aberdeen.

Having recently been linked with a move for Sam Walker, the Blues could draft in the Kilmarnock keeper as a replacement for Hladky if he does seal an exit this summer.

Although Walton is set to remain as the club’s first-choice shot-stopper for the foreseeable future, he could benefit from receiving some fresh competition for this role in the upcoming campaign.

As for Hladky, it could be argued that he should be seeking assurances regarding game-time from a potential suitor this summer before making a decision regarding his future.
