With Atletico Madrid pursuing Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez, it has dramatically altered the situation of young striker Samu Omorodion. The 20-year-old forward was expected to return to the Metropolitano this summer to continue his development, but it now looks like Chelsea could get their man.
The Blues were knocked back earlier in the summer during their pursuit of the Spanish-Nigerian forward, but now the latest reporting is that Omorodion is willing to move to Chelsea, and Atletico are willing to deal him if it can fund a move for Alvarez.
Matteo Moretto has told Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that talks for Omorodion began again while the two clubs were in talks for Conor Gallagher, for whom a deal is verbally agreed. The two clubs will try to tie up deals for both in the coming days now.
Fabrizio Romano himself reveals that Los Rojiblancos will accept a €40m offer for Omorodion, but will only pull the trigger on the move if a deal is sealed for Alvarez. It seems Atletico will only contemplate the loss of one of their most promising talents if it means signing the Argentina forward. It is also worth noting that the fee taking Omorodion to Chelsea appears to be the same as what Atleti will pay for Gallagher.
