Fulham extended their lead at the Championship summit to five points last night, with the Cottagers securing a 6-2 victory over Birmingham City.

It was the third successive game for Marco Silva’s side where they netted six or more goals, with Fulham blowing teams away at present.

A well-worked move from the hosts ended up with Marc Roberts netting past his own goalkeeper, giving the league leaders a 10th minute lead.

The Cottagers then scored three times in eight minutes, thanks to Neeskens Kebano, Fabio Carvalho and Tom Cairney, to eliminate the threat of a Birmingham recovery, although, Ivan Sunjic did pull a goal back just before half time.

Gary Gardner’s excellent strike then sailed into the bottom corner with 15 minutes left to play, momentarily giving the visitors some hope.

Carvalho restored Fulham’s three-goal advantage within 60 seconds of Birmingham’s second, with Antonee Robinson getting in on the act in stoppage time.

It was Carvalho who proved to be Fulham’s brightest spark when going forward, with the 19-year-old continuing to impress within the senior set up at Craven Cottage.
