It is still a rumor at this point but it is safe to say every Manchester United fan wants it to be true. According to Universidad de Chile’s president Jose Luis Navarrete, he is extremely interested in Manchester United and Inter Milan flop Alexis Sanchez.

Navarrete told Sempreinter: ‘I spoke with Alexis Sanchez, and he is a fan of Universidad de Chile. He wants to retire by playing for the club. I would like to have Marcelo Diaz, Isla, Edu Vargas, Alexis Sanchez, all of them, but you have to be realistic.

‘The economic scenario is not brilliant, it will depend on how much they are willing to give up to come to Universidad De Chile.’

The Chilean international would likely have to take a big pay cut for a club to take him and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to make this happen. Inter are unlikely to extend his stay at the San Siro after a frustrating injury-filled campaign in Italy, scoring just one goal in 15 appearances.

Manchester United chiefs would love to offload the expensive flop but finding a team to take his outrageous £500,000-a-week pay is proving to be difficult.

Since signing from Arsenal in 2018, Sanchez’s Old Trafford career has amounted to just 45 games and five goals.

In these desperate times, I hope this is true!
