HLN are reporting that Union St Gilloise are set to beat both Antwerp and Anderlecht to the signing of PSV Eindhoven striker Yorbe Vertessen. USG are in the market for a striker to replace the departing Dante Vanzeir, who is set to join MLS side New York Red Bulls imminently. Antwerp themselves were also looking for a new striker, with Michel Frey having joined Schalke 04 on loan until the end of the season.
PSV themselves have picked up Fabio Silva, who began the season on loan with Anderlecht before cutting the period short to move across the border. Hence, USG are looking to take advantage of the fact that Vertessen will be dropping down the pecking order with the new signing.
22-year-old Vertessen has only appeared eight times in the league for PSV without scoring. His two goals this season came in the Europa League, where he has made three appearances.
