Union Berlin are eyeing Burnley striker Matej Vydra.

Union Berlin are in need of a new striker signing with Max Kruse, Joel Pohjanpalo and Anthony Ujah all battling with injury.

Sky Deutschland via Fussball Transfers says Union have opened talks with Burnley about a loan deal for Vydra. A proposal has already been submitted.

Burnley, however, is more interested in a permanent sale.

A second offer from Union Berlin is now being considered on the German team's side of the table.

So far this season, Czech Republic international striker Vydra has managed fourteen appearances for the Clarets, scoring three goals. In the Premier League, he has appeared ten times.

Vydra moved to Burnley in August 2018 from Derby County for a fee of €12m. The 28 year-old has a contract at Turf Moor to 2022.

Despite their injury problems this season, Union Berlin are enjoying an outstanding Bundesliga campaign and currently sit in fifth position on the table, just a point away from third place Bayer Leverkusen.
